The sexual and reproductive health programs are a set of strategies, programs, campaigns and actions, whose objective is to provide comprehensive care to the population of reproductive age, referring to: preconception, contraception, medical care during pregnancy (during the prenatal stage, childbirth and puerperium).

Through counseling and advice on contraception post-obstetric event and contraceptive methods, it is sought that women keep the intergenetic periods appropriate for the mother and her baby, as well as the participation of men in contraception, family planning and prevention of Sexually Transmitted infections, included in HIV-AIDS.

All of the above to contribute to the enjoyment of an informed, responsible and satisfactory sexual and reproductive life, through quality services, based on respect for human rights, equity and free choice.

Other guidelines of the Sexual and Reproductive Health programs are: the decrease in the number of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections in this population group and the pregnancy of girls and adolescents; granting a basic package in first-level medical care units and adolescent-friendly services, family planning, contraception, maternal and perinatal health programs, as well as sexual and reproductive health for adolescents.
